Cloud Hosting
Tanuki Interactive is your experienced advisor when it comes to web hosting. Depending on the needs of your project, we can recommend the hosting option, or combination of options to meet your needs.
WordPress® hosting comes with some special challenges due to the structure of that ecosystem with plugins, themes and WordPress® core all being updated independently and at irregular schedules. While most of those upgrades are straightforward with little impact on websites, some upgrades can cause unexpected errors. For that reason we take special precautions to backup site files and databases before any updates are made.
We also rely heavily on staging environments to test out larger code changes before deployment. Many clients appreciate the ability to see and interact with proposed changes prior to launch. This also gives us an opportunity to properly test changes across multiple devices.
For most hosting environments we can improve the page load speeds of a website by serving image assets from content delivery networks (CDNs). Most of our client sites now make use of CDNs. We have also worked with some of the leading video streaming CDNs that specialize in delivering uninterrupted low-latency streams.
When building microservices applications, these are most often hosted on small virtual servers that are custom created for that purpose. We are most comfortable managing Linux-based systems.
David Fry has been purchasing hosting at data centers and maintaining Linux servers since 1997. He is proficient at supporting many kinds of hosting environments and managing the process of migrating from one hosting company to another. David has maintained many different servers over the years from dedicated Linux/Apache and Windows/IIS boxes, to specialized video streaming servers and a variety of virtual servers of all shapes and sizes.
Cloud Hosting
A computing cloud is a large collection of networked computers that work cooperatively to share computing power and storage. Cloud hosting uses the computing power of that cloud within separate secure containers to power individual web servers. This provides a more reliable approach and lets the cloud direct the resources where it is most needed.
Content Delivery Network
A CDN locates larger files such as images and video on servers around the globe so that they can be quickly loaded from a nearby source.
